When you encounter difficulties and contradictions,
do not try to break them, but bend them with
gentleness and time.

TIM's BLOG
(Random Thoughts and Tim's Daily World):

Hi there!

Not feeling really well this morning, so I am going to
keep my Blog Notes brief and get right to the FOOD FOR THOUGHT.

Hope that you all had a great week, and a nice Valentine's
Day (I'm sure that Hallmark did! LOL)....and are not recovering
from the excess of sweets as I seem to be.

Love to you!

FOOD FOR THOUGHT:
(Brand New and Classic Love Works Essays 2001-2007)

Although I have 1000 reasons not to watch this show,
we do, and I laugh..and I laugh...and I laugh.

Not because it is rude, and often gross and insensative...
but because in many ways,  like the show the Simpsons,  it
makes us look at the absurdity of our lives in a way
that is not just funny but makes us think.

The show I am talking about is "The Family Guy".

If you don't know it,  it's an animated show pointed at
teenagers and adults...

And there is not a single episode that goes by that
you won't be totally offended,  and relate to ... all at the same
time.

I'm not promoting this show....but what many people miss
is that by exagerating the very WORST in human behavior it really
helps to define what we are really doing wrong...and can
do better.

It uses the ridiculous to show us the reasonable.

Enough about the FAMILY GUY,  love it or hate it...I think it
has a purpose.

And it's only purpose today is to provide the title
to our essay of the day....

The main character,  Peter,  often uses completely outlandish
"fantasy" sequences to illustrate a certain point...
something odd..or unusual...or just puzzling to him.

One day, as he usually does,  he is relating a story about
himself (who else) and comes to ...

"And the other day I was in the mall, at one of those
Bed, Bath and Beyond stores...well let me tell you....it's
the Beyond section that you really watch out for...."

A this point we see an animated dream sequence of Peter going
past the beds...and past the baths...and to a door that
reads "BEYOND"

Of course, he opens the door and goes in and is swirled
into some type of sci-fi alternate reality....a portal
into another dimension.....

He then jolts out of his imagining...and says....

"I'll never do that again".....

That is so funny to me.  I have ofter wondered about the
name...Bed, Bath and Beyond.....

What could be the beyond?

Do I want to know?

I think in our regular lives...we have alot of BEYOND situations..
and I think that we DON'T really want to know.

We come to a door that will take us past the familiar and
it is marked BEYOND!!!!

We walk right by.

What's inside the BEYOND door could be so much better
that what we have known to this point....

But that's it in a nutshell...it's an UNKNOWN.

I recently attended a POTLUCK for PEACE on Valentines
Day....and during it ... the tiny rumours that I had
heard about someone being found that may be a new minister
at the church we attend were confirmed.

I spent much of the night thinking..."this could not be
good".  I really like the current minister.  In truth, he is
one of the best church ministers that I have met in my
40 short years.

What if I don't like this new guy...what then?

Do I find a new church?  Do I have no church again?
Do I become a church of one?

I have spend about 1/2 of my life going to church, and about
1/2 NOT going to church.

Am I going to return to the NOT going portion again?

See, the thing is....in terms of this situation...I know the
bed and bath....but I know nothing about the BEYOND.

The BEYOND must be bad...right?

What good can come from different?

I'm sure when the new minister starts his thing..that I
will spiral into some alternate reality vortex and be
lost forever.

Or...maybe the BEYOND...will be good....different...maybe
ever better.

My mind doesn't want to go there.  When what I have is REALLY
good,  nothing can be better...nothing could be beyond?

Does this happen to you?

Have you been stopped cold in a job, or living situation, or relationship,
or church, or medical relationship...and it was good....
maybe even great...but either you or THEY are about to change it.

It is about to become a BEYOND?

Scary...because the beyond could be dreadful....

Or wonderful BEYOND your wildest imagination.

Go ahead...open the door and step inside...who know
what awaits.....

You know about the sections you are familiar with and enjoy!

Time to make that change..or accept that change for
the new adventure is will be.

Happy times to you as you enter THE BEYOND!
